Between 1926 and 1947 Robert H.I. Goddard photographed many of the last coasting schooners on the East Coast, catching them underway, in port, laid up for better times, and abandoned. His views range from New Brunswick to Florida. Of particular note ar images of large Crowell & Thurlow schooner laid au at Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and of a variety of schooners unloading at Providence, Rhode Island. This book offers rare and dramatic images of the last coasting schooners on the East Coast.
